Meat Processing Waste Treatment

Operation This regional meat packer/processor served the Southwest. Utilizing a 5,000-gallon clarifier, this processor had a daily average flow of over 100,000 gallons/day.
Problem Prior to treatment, the plant had severe line blockages and grease accumulations that required chemicals and pumping services. Contaminant charges were also a problem.
Treatment Treatment began in the spring using Mega-Bac® X bacterial products. Dispensing was accomplished with an automatic pumping system.
Results Accumulated grease and other food wastes were sufficiently reduced in the clarifier to eliminate regular pumpings. Chemical use was discontinued. After treatment, line blockages for grease accumulations were virtually eliminated and contaminant charges were controlled by using Mega-Bac X.
