Project This slaughterhouse has an effluent treatment system consisting of the following:
Problem The system had become badly overloaded and a crust layer formed in the primary pond to a depth of over three feet. Staff from the facility were able to walk out over the pond, supported by the grease layer. Similar scum covered the surface of three secondary ponds and over 50% of the fourth pond. Foul odors were a major problem created by the inefficient waste system, causing the land adjacent to the treatment facility to become unmarketable.
Treatment Treatment began in the winter, using Mega-Bac X products. An initial large inoculation dose was added to each pond, followed by a daily maintenance dose.
Results After 21 days, the scum layers had reduced dramatically, and completely disappeared on pond three (see images below). Further improvement continued: after three months, bacterial activity had softened the solid crust layer on the primary pond. The odor problem improved dramatically. The land adjacent to the site, which previously could not be sold, was once again put on the market after the use of Mega-Bac X.
Conclusion Mega-Bac X is an effective, economical wastewater treatment for slaughterhouse facilities.
