Project After dismantling an old 2000 barrel tank which was out of commission for eight years, 300 barrels of hard dry wax was carried by backhoe and placed in a 450 barrel rig tank with a central agitator.
Treatment Fresh oil was added to allow saturation back into the wax. Para-BacŪ microbes and 2 barrels of water were added and agitated for 14 days.
Results The paraffin was solubilized resulting in pumpable wax that was blended into a salable pipeline product.
Conclusions This technique saved the oil company approximately $15,000 in disposal costs; creating a cash flow rather than an expense.
