Micro-Bac International uses some of the smallest living organisms to tackle the world’s biggest challenges.
Our scientists have isolated naturally-occurring bacteria that will breakdown waste, remediate oil, and reduce paraffin, a substance that clogs oil wells.
Because none of the bacteria has been genetically modified, it poses no danger to humans or animals.
At Micro-Bac, we’ve found a safe alternative to traditional pollution remediation.
One of our largest projects, located in Ecuador, shows just how powerful and safe our process is.
Ecuador is an environmental jewel, home to both the Galapagos Islands and the Amazon rainforest. The country also has one of the world’s largest oil reserves.
In February 2002, an oil pipeline ruptured in an environmentally sensitive area—spilling 3,500 barrels of oil along the marshy banks of the Zancudo River.
The spill contaminated the river, which is the water supply for residents in the nearby villages of Chone 1 and Chone 2, and it left a dead zone in the heart of the rain forest—83,000 square meters in size.
Micro-Bac arrived in January 2003, with the most innovative solutions available.
We hired local workers and supplied them with protective clothing for the jungle environment. The workers completed training on our unique process of using natural microbes to clean up the spill.
During this process, the workers strip the dead vegetation from the affected area, sending it through a shredder.
Then, a mixture of Micro-Bac’s product is injected into the ground, forcing the oil to the surface.
As the oil is captured by a special absorbent boom, workers return it to the producer, Petro Ecuador. Whatever oil remains in the ground, is remediated by Micro-Bac’s blend of natural microbes.
Amazingly, within a short time after this treatment, new vegetation springs to life, animals begin to return to the area—and testing proves the pollution has been eliminated.
Micro-Bac is unique in using organic, environmentally-safe products to clean up this kind of pollution. Our process leaves no harmful substances behind.
Beyond our concern for the environment, is a concern for people.
When Micro-Bac arrived in this remote section of Ecuador, we found that even the most basic services had not reached the people here.
At no cost to the community, Micro-Bac has provided much-needed infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, and a medical clinic.
For the first time, residents have access to a medical doctor. The clinic provides everything from basic medical education to cancer surgery—treatments that are saving lives in this remote section of Ecuador.
Micro-Bac also provided funding and supplies for the village school. Now, both children and adults are learning how to read and write.
In December, Micro-Bac delivered new toys and clothes to local residents, as well as holiday bonuses to our workers.
At a time when industry and environmental concerns seem to be at odds, Micro-Bac has innovative solutions that meet the needs of both—while continuing to partner with the communities we serve.
Our scientists are harnessing the power of nature to clean up pollution and make industries more productive. In the process, we’re making life better for people and communities around the globe.
